What does fabric protector do?
Spills soak in fast on clean fibers. A protector slows that down, and liquid tends to bead for a bit, so a dropped glass of wine gives you time to get a towel. It helps dry soil vacuum out more easily too. It won’t make a carpet stain-proof, and a spill that sits overnight can still mark it, but it does make the everyday accident easier to deal with.
Where is it worth adding?
Add it where accidents happen: dining rooms, family rooms, a kid’s bedroom, or the entry where everyone comes in. A guest room that hardly gets used may not need it. It wears off under foot traffic, vacuuming and cleaning, so most people think about it again at the next cleaning, which we’d suggest in 6 to 12 months.
Protector is listed on our carpet cleaning and area rug processes. Our upholstery process doesn’t list it, so ask us about your furniture before you count on it.
What does it cost?
It’s an additional fee on top of your cleaning, and the amount depends on how much you’re treating. We don’t publish a set price. Ask for it on your free quote and it’ll be on the number you get back. More on how we price.
If what you’re worried about is an old urine smell, protector isn’t the fix; you’ll want pet stain and odor removal instead.
Answers
Fabric Protector: common questions
Is fabric protector worth it on carpet?
It’s most useful where spills are likely: kids’ rooms, dining areas and homes with pets. A protector helps liquid sit on the fibers long enough to blot. Steam Rollerz offers it as the optional last step of a carpet or rug cleaning, for an additional fee, so you can decide room by room.
Does fabric protector make carpet stain-proof?
No. A protector buys you time, since spills bead up instead of soaking straight in, but a spill left long enough can still stain. Blot right away and don’t rub. Steam Rollerz offers protector as an optional step, and it’s best seen as a way to make clean-up easier.
How long does fabric protector last?
It wears off gradually with foot traffic, vacuuming and cleaning, so high-traffic lanes lose it first. That’s why it’s offered after each cleaning, not once for life. Steam Rollerz’s suggested cleaning interval of 6 to 12 months is a natural time to decide whether to add it again.
Can you put fabric protector on my couch?
Steam Rollerz lists fabric protector as the final step for carpet and area rugs, and its upholstery process doesn’t list it. So ask directly: call (629) 207-0276 or mention the couch and its fabric on your quote request, and the company will tell you whether it can be done.
